I organize work dinners there about 10 times a year. We use the private meeting room at the back of the restaurant.
The food is great, their produce is all local and fresh . The pictures are from a special fall decor table, so beautiful!
Excellent food & service. Can sit out overlooking the river.
Good food great drinks excellent service
Great food, super good dessert (had the apple crumble with caramel ice cream). Nice people.
Brunch here with my husband was an amazing sight. The patio over the river in the summer was everything. Adult drink menu was nice. Small wide variety of simple plates and great atmosphere.
Great service yummy bloody marrys
Great place to have a dinner party. Coordinator took care of everything! Beautiful atmosphere, delicious dinner and great service! Couldn’t have picked a better place to celebrate my son’s graduation.
Oh my geersh! So good! Sourdough bread loaf for sure!
Breakfast & mimosas on the river? Yes, please! This place sits along the Sacramento River, featuring a full-size bar and ample seating indoors with outside seating weatherproofed for a cool or warm dining experience. Food portions are appropriate. Prices are moderately set and service meets or exceeds the standard.
Quality Foods, quality restaurant in quality service in this nice restaurant on the river.
Delicious food, but the salads are not always fresh. I don’t like when lettuce is brown in my salads.
We went on a Wednesday evening, and it was not crowded, but judging by the crowds outside on the weekends, I would highly recommend making a reservation (you can do so from the ‘about page’ on Google maps).
Unfortunately, it was a bit too breezy when we went to properly enjoy the patio, but from what I could see through the windows, we want to go back when the weather is more favorable. I don’t think you can get better views at a restaurant in Sac, especially around sunset.
To our dining experience, it was about as good as one could ask for. The bartender was obviously a master of the craft, and brought out the best Old Fashioned that I’ve had in a great long time. The waiter was attentive without hovering. And, the staff in general was just naturally pleasant.
Food-wise, we’re both small eaters, and were glad we didn’t order an appetizer, since the portions were pretty much spot on, leaning towards the generous side. Her swordfish was cooked perfectly and the seasoning complemented, rather than hid, the fish. I had the jambalaya, and would definitely recommend it. Not as hot/spicy as one would find in the French Quarter, but seasoning-wise, pretty much spot on. Quality-wise, everything was also very fresh, and it showed.
Price-wise, I would put it at, or slightly below other top-shelf restaurants in the area, but with slightly better portions, and definitely a better view is the patio can come into play.
We’ll definitely be going back.
Good food. Right on the Sacramento river.
Wonderful food, great service and awesome view! Loved it.
Excellent streak, great atmosphere, had a great time
Best clam chowder ever! And my hamburger was cooked exactly how I like it. I’m from Phoenix but if I’m ever beck in town…
Great food and service
Delicious meal, friendly staff, wonderful view of the river!
Excellent food and service
Good food, great setting
The best salmon BLT ever!
Great happy hour specials, and a wonderful view! Service in the bar was excellent!
It was a fun bar at mardi-gras. Had a blast. The music was good and the outside patio was huge with couches and chairs. The pool table being downstairs was awsome. Definitely going back some time soon.
We had an awesome afternoon lunch w/fablous beverages
Stopped here as the wait at Joe’s crab shack was almost 2 hours and we are glad we did! From the moment we walked in the door we were greeted personally and professionally.
Our waitress Andrea was phenomenal! Well versed on the menu and enthusiastically explained it so that you wanted one of everything! She was attentive without be obtrusive. They have just updated their menu and the food did not disappoint. It was fresh, vibrant and cooked to perfection.
We will definitely be back!
Good service, nice atmosphere and the food was delicious
Excellent service!! Our waitress was so great and made sure our food came out quickly since we were in a hurry. Everything was delicious!
Outstanding views of the river and the bridge… Coffees are great… So were the crab cakes
Great staff. Everyone loved their food and drinks. I was pleasantly surprised. This is not a novelty restaurant.
The chorizo dip, habenero mango wings where great and the crounuts are off the hook u can take a trip just for the crounuts alone, but Christina the bartender was very helpful and fun. Check it out when ur in old Town Sacramento
Seafood linguini was amazing. Service was pleasant
It was awesome. The staff was nice and actually cared about their customers.
Great time. Always is ð attentive staff. Bottomless mimosas! Awesome patio view. Called 2 hours ahead for a table of four. Seated right away. Yummy food.

We took the train up on for the day on Saturday and we had a party of 19 girls and our server was great (can’t remember her name ð), she did an awesome job and the food was great. They got us moved out to the patio and the weather was perfect. Would for sure go back.

Nice atmosphere….relaxing. Good food and great service !
Great place all around. Food is so tasteful and you won’t regret if you order the fish m chip. Reasonable prices for the quality of food they have. Perfect for any occasion. Don’t forget your parking ticket if you park at bridge tower for half off.
Be sure to get a table on the patio. Excellent menu, with a perfect view of the Sacramento River and Tower Bridge.
Great Food!!! Donnell is a great bartender and truly enjoys her job

Me and my wife visited old Sacramento for the day, we decided to come eat dinner at Rio City since it was highly recommended to us by a bartender at a local bar called Omally’s. Rio City Cafe’s service was great and the food was fantastic! I suggest eating outside by the water for a more romantic setting.
In the last several months, a lot of my business associates and I have noticed a difference in Rio City for the better! Whenever we have guest, that fly into Sacramento we always bring them to Rio City, they love to be outside on the patio. The food and service are exceptional! A favorite spot along the river in Old Sacramento!
We loved the location of this restaurant, right on the Sacramento River.
Ordered the cheesy-bread appetizer…oh man…sooo good! Had clam chowder as well which was yummy!
We loved this place but make reservations if you can.
Love the food at the Rio City Cafe and on a nice day you can’t beat eating outside along the Sacramento River.
The food here is good with quite a big choice. The outside area was very pleasant with views overlooking the river. The service was excellent and the waiter knew his wines. Id return there for sure.
This is the highest quality restaurant, and in an area with tourist traps and so-so restaurants, this place stands out as both a good place to eat and enjoy the river at the same time. I will take out of town guests to this restaurant for the view and reliably good quality food. The view is especially wonderful!
I travel often to Sacramento and when I do I find a way to have lunch or dinner at Rio City Cafe. I have told my husband about sitting on the porch overlooking the Sacramento River. We finally went together this past weekend. And it didn’t disappoint. It was warm, no wind, a calm day and he finally understood why I like this place. I love the location!
Very good restaurant for lunch or dinner. Eating outside on the deck makes it worthwhile, even on a hot day. The area is covered and I believe heated in the winter. Pretty lively bar also. Very good consistent food. Good service
Fun Bar and Restaurant for Locals and Tourists I love Old Sacramento – and Rio City Cafe is a splendid restaurant on the river. The bar is cheerful and comfortable for single women as well as people waiting for a dinner table. The drinks are well priced and the bartenders are very nice. The wine pours are generous (I get so tired of bars that measure out a small serving in a huge glass…) The cheese loaf with balsamic oil appetizer makes a great small decadent meal for two! The prime beef tacos are fun and spicy.
Rio City is the best view in Sacramento. They have good happy hour and an unlimited mimosa brunch on weekends. The food is good, must have the garlic loaf, but could’ve skipped the mahi nachos. The granola yogurt brunch item is yummy and saves room for all the mimosas I want. Good staff, good food, great location, perfect place for locals to feel like a tourist and great place to take out of town friends.
We celebrated a birthday at Rio City this evening and had a very delightful evening with good food and service. Allison was on top of everything. Highly recommend this place on the river.
I love Rio! The ambiance, the food, the river. It’s all great. Very good wines. Knowledgeable servers (both food and wine). Attentive management. Can be romantic. Can be celebratory. Nice to sit on the patio and enjoy drinks on a warm summer day (well, hot summer day! Sacramento doesn’t have warm summer days).
My favorite restaurant in Old Sacramento. Great service, delicious food, and excellent views of the Sacramento river.
